The House Energy and Commerce Committee is seeking more information on private negotiations that took place between the White House and industry groups on health insurance reform. Rep. Henry Waxman (D-Calif.) will lead this interogation. Waxman heard testimony from Rep. Michael Burgess (R-Texas). He has been seeking specific details from the White House on deals it made with industry groups. Rep. Joe Barton (R-Texas), wants to “crack the door” on backdoor health insurance reform deals.
Waxman agreed to help Burgess obtain some information, such as a list of all of the agreements that were entered into writing and the names of the groups that attended these meetings at the White House. As these groups were meeting at the White House last spring, they were also creating the health insurance reform bill “HR 3200.”
