If you are working on your taxes, you may have come to Line 61 of your 1040: Health care: individual responsibility. No need to fear, this is MUCH easier than you think. If you had Minimum Essential Coverage (MEC) for the entire year, then all you do is check the box. Many American’s keep calling the health insurance carriers thinking they will be getting a form from the carrier. This is not the case. All you have to do is check the box. See image below.
However if did NOT have a full year of coverage then you must file IRS Form 8965
If you do NOT have health insurance you can still fill out an application for short term health insurance or for Obamacare.
