Alaska has a Comprehensive Health Insurance Association (ACHIA) to help with the expense of health insurance. It was created by the State Legislature of Alaska to provide health insurance coverage to every resident in the state who would otherwise be unable to obtain individual health insurance and meet certain eligibility requirements set forth by the carriers. The state of Alsaka encourages you to use the assistance of a licensed insurance agent in completing the application process.
For assistance with health insurance for children there is Denali Kid Care.This is a State program in Alaska program that is designed to ensure that all children and families can have the health insurance and protection they need. The program covers children age 0-18 and expecting mothers that meet specified income guidelines. Coverage for Denali Kid Care will need to renewed every twelve months. A written notice will be provided in the mail 45 days before the coverage ends to allow you to renew for the upcoming year.
