Michigan Health Insurance Reviews

Kalamazoo Health Insurance Review, United Health One

My health insurance is under the company UHC or what is more popularly known as United Health One Insurance Plan for individuals and families. It is actually the number one insurance company thriving in the US these days. They provide policy holders like me a sense of security in our healthcare. Their services cover dental, medical, and vision backed up by the finest facilities in the US, particularly in Kalamazoo, Michigan where I live.

How My Insurance Plan Works

The Michigan health insurance I obtained covers all the costs of my medical care as well as my hospitalization expenses any time I get into an accident or perhaps contract a serious medical condition; however I do have a 2500 deductible. So in the event of an illness I have the 2500 deductible, BUT I also have an accident policy rider through United, so all my expenses will be covered 100% for any instance of an injury or accident, cut, broken bone, burn, etc. It is similar to Aflac but this options is only $20 a month and it is not limited like Aflac. Also, just like other countless types of insurance, my benefits can only be paid after I have paid the entire premium of my insurance. Once when I was young I had an ER visit and my dad did not pay the premium and he had to call in the payment so the Bronson hospital Kalamazoo would honor our network rates and copays.

PPO Or Preferred Provider Option: My Choice Of Policy

My insurance policy actually covers only myself. This is a type of policy wherein the healthcare providers give their consent to become one of United Health’s providers. The hospitals, doctors and insurance companies are actually the ones who pre-negotiate the fees based on the stated provisions and procedures of the policy. Since I am insured with the PPO, I get billed at reduced fees whenever a doctor sees me or whenever I need to stay or visit a hospital for some tests and check-ups. PPO is the one that pays the pre-negotiated fees and I, being the insured, become liable for the deductibles as well as the co-payments.

One thing I don’t like about United Health One insurance policies is if I happens to deal with non-network providers, my co-payment or deductible fees becomes a lot higher. As for my experience when it comes to visiting my network doctor, I can say I am pleased with how they practice their profession and with how they treat their patients with so much devotion.

Overall United Health One is a sweet plan, and my deductible actually decreases every year as an added benefit they offer in Michigan.
