Anthem Health Insurance Reviews

I am happy to be a customer of one of the largest health insurance providers in Ohio, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield. While there are many benefits I enjoy as a customer of Blue Cross Blue Shield, there are also aspects of my coverage that I wish were different.

Of the aspects I find comparable to plans I have had in the past, Blue Cross Blue Shield operates as a Preferred Provider Organization, or PPO. Because of this, certain physicians are approved and some are not. As a result, if you choose to see a doctor that is considered out-of-network, then that visit will cost you more out of pocket than a visit with an in-network doctor. The good news is that in Ohio,
Blue Cross Blue Shield has a vast network of reliable and reputable doctors. It is rare to find a physician who is not in-network.

For my family of four, our plan requires that we pay a small co-pay per office visit and meet a family deductible. While these co-pays are higher than other health insurance plans I have had in the past, it is still cheaper than paying for the entire visit out of pocket. When I visit the doctor for my annual check-up, I pay my co-pay and see my doctor. I do not have to pay anything more than my co-pay for my visit. The co-pay is then applied to the amount needed to satisfy the deductible.

Of the aspects I would like to see improved, the premium I pay from month to month has increased exponentially over the past 2 years. This year, my
Ohio health insurance premiums are more than my auto insurance. In my opinion, that is unacceptable for a family of four with no health problems. With the rising cost of health insurance, I may be looking for an alternate or supplemental insurance in the future.

Despite its negative qualities, I am overall very pleased with the coverage, customer service and quality of care I receive from Blue Cross Blue Shield. Their ease of use and transparency make me a satisfied customer.

Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield Insurance Review

My health insurance is Blue Cross Blue shield. I like this insurance because it covers 100% on all my family preventive care, including OBGYN, physicals, check-ups, etc... We also have a dental plan covered by Blue Cross Blue Shield. Having dentistry plan is great due to the fact we have kids and are constantly visiting the dentist for cleaning and stuff. Dentists are very expensive now days without insurance and they are also expensive when you do have insurance because most of the insurance companies don't cover certain things and the things they do cover it's not covered in full and the amount that you have to pay is very high. With Blue Cross Blue shield our dentist visit are free twice a year and we get x-rays too., Oral surgery, tooth removed or anything else our insurance pays more than half of the amount and we pay what's left which is great.

I currently live in the state of Ohio so the prices change depending on where you live because when i used to live in Georgia we use to have the same insurance company and it was quite pricey so we had to change to HumanaOne because we just couldn't afford such high monthly payments. In Georgia we use to pay $385 dollars for me, my husband and two kids. Now we pay much more less than that and we have the same great Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance or Anthem insurance, so i guess the prices are based on where you are living and of course by how many people are going to be covered in the plan and if you decide to have a dentist plan included which makes it a little bit more.

Some of the things I like about this insurance service is that we pay only thirty-five dollars for all our visits and that includes the kids visits too and they also take this insurance pretty much everywhere we go, we've never had a problem when it comes to offices not taking this insurance. One thing I wish was different is that if you need to get a surgery done you have to pay a lot of money from your pocket if you haven't met a deductible. Most insurances are like this so I guess this is true for all insurance companies. Blue Cross Blue Shield is a good insurance company and I recommended it to everyone.
